Volodymyr Tykhyy, Ph.D. Environmental Policy & Management

Dr. Tykhyy also trained as a nuclear physicist in Ukraine prior to Chernobyl, and served as one of the team of specialists that worked to assess and document the impact of the accident after it occurred. Like Dr. Demydenko, the Chernobyl accident motivated Volodymyr to work for environmental protection; he started this work with an NGO called Green World, and then worked as a representative of Greenpeace in Ukraine, hazardous duty for anyone at the time. Since that time, he has worked for EPA and UNDP in a variety of capacities: doing environmental impact assessments, leading training courses for businesses and governmental officials, and spearheading environmental education programs throughout Ukraine. He served for many years as the Executive Director of the Environmental Education and Information Center in Kiev, which was responsible for a wide variety of environmental education and training programs.
